Brands need to spark joy for audiences offline

People around the world have kept close to home for months. Exotic vacations are still many months away, concerts & other in-person spectacles are sidelined, and community events will have to wait.

As people start to re-engage with home cities, visiting patios, going to shops and enjoying staycations …there are opportunities for retail brands to create profound experiences and fill the void of excitement left in Covid’s wake.

A few thoughts for brands looking to jump into the void and spark joy:

1. BRAND POP-UPS

Creating content, entertainment at malls and public spaces. Big gains for brands that move first in bridging the excitement gap.

2. TELEPORTATION

Step into a local hotel (for a staycation) and teleport yourself to a dream destination? Fashion, luxury and auto brands could also set up on hotel grounds to create brand relevant experiences for locals.

3. RESTAURANT x RETAIL CO-OPS

Restaurants and brands should be looking to team up to re-engage common audiences. Think: Beverage brands using AR to create more direct contact with customers …+ retail/fashion brands doing pop-ups …and/or co-branded content/merchandise.
